"The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord." ~Luke 4:16

PROPHETIC ENCOURAGEMENT

Earnestly pursue love and eagerly desire spiritual gifts, especially the gift of prophecy. 2 For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men, but to God. Indeed, no one understands him; he utters mysteries in the Spirit. But he who prophesies speaks to men for their edification, encouragement, and comfort. 4 The one who speaks in a tongue edifies himself, but the one who prophesies edifies the church. 5 I wish that all of you could speak in tongues, but I would rather have you prophesy. He who prophesies is greater than one who speaks in tongues, unless he interprets so that the church may be edified. (1 Corinthians 14:1-5)

The Holy Scriptures make new covenant prophesy so crystal clear. The new covenant prophetic voice is sent to edify, exhort, and comfort. In other words, prophesy is to build, encourage, give hope, and inspire. What's more exciting is that prophesy in the new covenant does not require a special title. Along with the prophet's ministry, the body of Christ has been given gifts of Holy Spirit, which includes prophecy. Apostle Paul wrote that his desire was that ALL would speak in tongues and even more that ALL would prophesy! Let's ask Holy Spirit for the gift of prophecy to flow even the more on ALL in the body of Christ, so that the Church is equipped for every good work. Amen!

"16 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; 17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; 19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. 20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, 21 Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen." ~ Ephesians 3:16-20
